Utilizing Relationships with Colleagues, Researchers, and Community
This year's program committee has been very busy planning the 2011 joint conference with the Society of North Carolina Archivists. If you couldn't get to Augusta in October or can't make it to SAA this year, then this conference is for you! Please mark your calendar for March 30 through April 1, 2011. SCAA and SNCA will be meeting at the Crystal Coast Civic Center, which is located on the waterfront of Bogue Sound in Morehead City, N.C. This facility on the campus of the Carteret Community College offers great views, plentiful parking, and the potential of enjoying warm sea breezes during our breaks! Furthermore, a block of rooms has been secured at the nearby Hampton Inn, also located on the waterfront, and also a great location for those of you who would like to bring your family and enjoy a weekend at the beach.
In addition to pre-conference workshops Wednesday, March 30, followed by a half of professional development programming on Thursday afternoon and Friday, our planned activities include a reception at the North Carolina Maritime Museum Thursday evening and a tour of Fort Macon on Thursday morning. A full program will be posted in January, and conference and hotel registration will open February 1, 2011.
We are extremely excited to announce to collaborate with our North Carolina neighbors for the first joint meeting of the two organizations. It should come as no surprise that this year's programming will focus on the theme of collaboration - not only between our two professional organizations, but between institutions, within institutions, and using all the tools that modern technology offers.
