The South Carolina Public Records Association (SCPRA) was organized as a means to provide a network of people for the advancement and improvement of records and information management in the public sector.
SCPRA’s members total more than 350 professionals in the State of South Carolina and include records and information professionals from the public and private sector including state agencies, county and municipal agencies, public safety, court systems, local school systems, colleges and universities and special purpose districts. Within these environments, SCPRA members work in a variety of positions from entry level to top executives.
Record keeping is vital to every organization. The goals of the SCPRA are to establish sound principles of records and information management, and provide record managers with solutions to problems, concerns and technological advances.
Please make plans to attend this meeting and get involved with the Coastal Region SCPRA.
2011 SCAA ANNUAL SOCIAL
On Friday, June 3, SCAA will be visiting the new Ernest F. Hollings Special Collections Library at the University of South Carolina in Columbia. The Hollings Library is accessed through USC’s Thomas Cooper Library via a walkway from the main floor. The 50,000-square-foot Hollings Library is home to three divisions of USC’s University Libraries: South Carolina Political Collections, The Irvin Department of Rare Books and Special Collections, and Digital Collections.
The day will begin with networking and lunch at the Hunter-Gatherer Brewery and Alehouse, located at 900 Main Street in Columbia. After lunch, we will walk to the library for the tours. We will be touring the reading room, exhibit galleries, public seminar and program rooms, as well as taking a behind-the-scenes look at the staff workspaces, digitization center, Rare Books’ treasure vault, and the stacks. Staff from all three divisions will be on hand to help with the tour and answer questions. If you are unable to join us for lunch, we'll be meeting in front of the Hollings Library at 1:00 p.m.

This event is the fundraiser for the SCAA's scholarship program. Proceeds from the day will benefit the Darrick L. Hart Endowment Fund Award. Darrick Hart was a charter member of the South Carolina Archival Association and was very active in the organization. He was employed as a Conservation Specialist from the University of South Carolina Conservation Laboratory in Columbia, SC.
